Impure and stressful whispers brought to our ears by petty little devils, 'wess wess' are present in various cultures around the world. Fuelled by our contemporary anxieties, they take many forms: the 9 to 5 of daily life, marital status in society, reproductive rights, the decision - or not - to raise children in the current context, as well as, of course, the impact of various ethno-cultural realities on all these topics.

In order to tackle these issues without maudlin or whining, it is through the door of grotesque theatre and satire that the artists invite the audience to think hard and laugh hard.

The result of the Culturas professional development project started in 2020, this satirical play is created, co-produced, promoted and staged by a group of culturally diverse artists.

Emily Rose London

Emerging from the artworks, I’ve always had an eye for creativity. Envisioning colour and emotion through movement and sound. While my time in the professional world has only just begun, I’ve never shied away from pushing my voice forward through various solo and academic mixed-media projects.

My love for the arts started with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky on a swan lake in my childhood bedroom. Wanting to emulate the flow of emotions a classical piece so lovingly gives. I would soon pick up varying instruments, from the flute to the guitar, followed by years of focusing on my vocal career, then to composing my pieces of music and poetry.

Later, I’d progress through other forms of writing, painting, sewing, and designing. None of which I’d cling to more than performing. Sharing emotion, sparking ideas, questioning thoughts, and of course, the pure joy and entertainment of it all. I hope to continue that joy through my artistic pursuits for years to come as I venture through the world of theatre.
